Based on the Andrauv platform, the module enables any MAVlink-based flight controller to use virtually any type of data connection for unlimited range telemetry
DALLAS, TX (MAY 8, 2017) – Triangle UAS LLC, a provider of innovative unmanned aircraft system services and technology, has partnered with Andruav to introduce a revolutionary “plug & play” control module that enables MAVlink-based flight controllers to use virtually any type of data connection to deliver unlimited range telemetry and first person viewing (FPV) capability/video streaming capability from a UAV-mounted remote camera.
Based on the Andruav platform – an interconnected platform that uses Android mobile phones as Control Boards and Ground Control Stations for RC Vehicle – the module provides a comprehensive hardware and software solution that can manage multiple drones and support a tiered-privilege user interface. The module connects via USB, Bluetooth, or WiFi to any MAVlink-based hardware, enabling the use of any type of data connection, including 4G/3G cellular, Iridium satellite link, Ethernet, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, to provide unlimited range telemetry. The module is compatible with most flight planning applications including Mission Planner, Tower, QGround Control, UgCS, as well as custom solutions, enabling remote monitoring and control through any web browser interface.
“Our control module provides an economical, easy-to-use solution that allows a user to add unlimited range telemetry and first person viewing capability to virtually any UAV anywhere in the world,” said Taylor Kerby, Triangle UAS president. “Users can simply plug the unit into their UAV’s autopilot system and connect to any USB power source. Because our system offers the widest possible range of connection options, it enables a user to fly their UAV from any Internet connection.” In order to use this capability, users must be registered with the FAA, and comply with all applicable regulations, explained Kerby.
The system’s video streaming/FPV capability requires a high-speed data connection, Kerby explained. The Triangle UAS engineering team along with Andruav is also available to assist with any custom integration requirements.
The control module also gives onsite users the ability to override control from the remote interface. It also provides geofencing options to allow users to set restricted zones and location-based alerts.
Triangle UAS partnered with Autonomous Aeronautics to perform proof of concept flights outside of Dallas, TX. Initial testing was successful and demonstrated the unlimited range telemetry capabilities, FPV features, and plug and play operation. Autonomous Aeronautics provided the aircraft used for testing.
Triangle UAS will be participating in AUVSI Xponential, the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International annual conference and exposition, held in Dallas, TX from May 8 – 11, 2017. Triangle UAS LLC is a North Carolina State University NGAT consortium member, and will be participating as a guest of UAV Factory and Nexutech in Booth #2147 at the show.
